Reports Show Goldman Sachs Executive Turned to Epstein for Career Advice
The documents indicate that Ruemmler requested career coaching from Epstein while pursuing a high-level position under then-COO Sheryl Sandberg. Epstein reportedly helped by drafting emails to Sandberg, offering negotiation advice, and suggesting potential salary figures.
The effort was unsuccessful. Ruemmler joined Goldman Sachs in 2020 and became the firm’s chief legal officer in 2021.
Ruemmler also assisted Epstein in drafting responses to media inquiries about his criminal activities. In emails from 2018 to 2019, she prepared a statement for The Washington Post saying he had “accepted responsibility, served time and paid significant monetary settlements to the victims.”
Ruemmler has described the relationship as professional, expressed regret for associating with Epstein, and said she was unaware of his crimes. Goldman Sachs considers the interactions to have been routine networking. She remains in her position as of early 2026.
