Partial Government Shutdown Delays US Payrolls Report

(MENAFN) The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) announced on Monday that the January nonfarm payrolls report will not be released on its scheduled date due to the ongoing partial federal government shutdown.

“The Employment Situation release for January 2026 will not be released as scheduled on Friday, February 6, 2026. The release will be rescheduled upon the resumption of government funding,” the agency said in a statement.

The announcement also confirmed that the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) report for December 2025 will not be published. The BLS indicated it would resume normal operations and provide updates to its data schedule once government funding is restored.

The partial shutdown began after lawmakers were unable to complete the legislative process for a budget package approved by the Senate on January 30. The bill, which was returned to the House of Representatives following amendments, is expected to be voted on Tuesday.
